On the latest episode of This Morning, Chef Phil Vickery served Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield a risotto containing squirrel, following a campaign group’s suggestion that grey squirrels be added to restaurant menus.
Despite Phillip’s willingness to try the dish, Holly refused to eat the rodent and expressed her horror at the thought of consuming it.
As she shook her head in disapproval, Phillip described the squirrel meat as “a bit chewy” and compared its taste to chicken, while another guest found it closer to pork.
Viewers took to Twitter to criticize the idea of eating squirrels, with many finding it appalling and arguing that the animals should not be killed. Some even accused meat-eaters of hypocrisy, citing Holly’s own disdain for seafood.
